At this point in the journey...
The "back to the land" experience and the "intentional
community" experience are intrinsically linked. That's not to say I can't
imagine doing it alone again, it's just to say I can't imagine doing it alone
again and feeling the incredible things and growth I've felt and known as part
of a group. This room is full of words, pictures and links to various homestead
projects, the building of a community, writings on either or both, and whatever
else fits on the shelves in here.
A Call To The Circle
The book is done!
Based on the story of a group of people coming together
to work and play together, a circle of friendship and support, brother
and sisterhood and mutual growth. Coming together in community is
becoming more important by the day. If you're curious or called,
this book is based on the first year in the lives of a forming
group. Why they did it, what they did, how they managed the group
meetings and work projects, and what was learned.

In February 2009 I was honored to be interviewed by Ryan & Mandy of
www.withinreachmovie.com as they
bicycled through on their way to Austin and their continuing around-the-country
ride to document communes & intentional communities. Also check out: www.terrain.org/columns/23/guest.htm.
Godspeed & good miles to you!
Thought for the day: If I make
today "day one" anything is possible.

I'm reading this fantastic book, This
Common Ground by Scott Chaskey. Here's a snippet: "It
is part of a poet's job to enchant, and to take upon himself the mystery
of things, even if on occasion the object of inspiration comes in the
shape of a hefty sack of compost." Get it & feed your head
before bed.
Thought for the day: It is important for us to be at the disposal of that
which we serve.
